In the main you should scan the
whole workstation: files, paths, installations and registry to "catch"
all information usable in proper identyfication of
all resources. However in some cases you can
use the Simplified
scanning mode to spare on the time, CPU usage and cut down
on information to proccess. When using Simplified
scanning, only main applications and installations (aprox. 80 %) are
detected on workstations.
You can use the Simplified scanning as your first step in auditing of
the big and more complex network. After the pre-processing your
inventory database (editing, reporting, knowledgebase
maintaining) you can switch onto Full scanning mode.
